Rosie Purcell

Associate Director

Rosie is the Director of Research & Translation at Orygen, The National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health in Australia. She is also a Principal Research Fellow in the Centre for Youth Mental Health at The University of Melbourne and a registered psychologist.

Rosie has worked in research and clinical practice in youth mental health for over 10 years, and prior to that worked for 10 years in forensic mental health. Her primary research interests include mental health in (elite) sportspeople, including the relationship between physical activity and mental health, clinical staging in mental health, and early interventions to reduce forensic outcomes (crime victimisation and perpetration) in young people. Rosie was the inaugural Director of the headspace Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, which was responsible for evidence mapping, translation & dissemination, and oversaw a team  producing a range of evidence-based resources to support the burgeoning youth mental health workforce in Australia. In addition to her role at orygem, Rosie is the Managing Editor (and an Associate Editor) of the journal Early Intervention in Psychiatry.
