Presenter and slide deck
Alicia Nolan - Assistant Coordinator, SchoolsPlus
Key Learnings
- SchoolsPlus began as an initiative under the Nova Scotia Child and Youth Strategy in response to recommendations in the report of the 2006 Nunn Commission. More specifically, it arose out of the need for improved coordination and collaboration in the delivery of programs and services for children and youth.
- In this model, schools are centres of service delivery; they provide wraparound support for children, youth, and their families. School mental health clinicians play a key role in this model.
- A single consent form shared by all agencies breaks down silos between providers and enhances collaboration.
Identified Gaps in Research, Practice, and/or Policy
Cautious about approaches that only measure as singular data set on achievements; there is a need to explore ways to move away from attribution and look for contribution to outcomes.
Quotes
Work is based on solid theoretical models, and there is a need to articulate the “theory of change
