Key learnings

  • TECC-Y (Technology-Enabled Collaborative Care for Youth) is a web-based, client-driven model of care for young people with early psychosis.
  • Because people with psychosis are at risk of developing premature cardiovascular disease,  TECC-Y targets behaviour related to smoking, diet, and exercise.
  • To reduce the often fractured nature of care, Care Coordinators facilitate the flow of medical information between patients/families and practitioners, meeting weekly with an interdisciplinary virtual care team for case reviews and to discuss recommendations/treatment plans.

Identified Gaps in Research, Practice, and/or Policy:

Targeting behaviour change for youth with psychosis via an e-platform, in attempts to reduce the risk of developing premature cardiovascular disease.
