SideDoor Ministries
The goal of this project is to tell the story of our program Kitchen Talks/Table talks that brings together Indingeous Cultural knowledge, skills and worldviews with mental health care. The project tells the story of what it means and looks like to grow up in Canada’s north within the context of mental health. Through the narrative lens of youth, the program focuses on a series of workshops that bring together local youth, elders, community members and mental health facilitators. The goal of this project is to create a video essay by youth to explain how the program Kitchen Talks/Table Talks helps youth navigate their mental health journey’s from an Indigneous cultural lens. The monthly themes are co-created and co-designed by the youth. This aspect is critical to the success of the program. This gives the youth autonomy to decide not only what they value but also how they want to tell the story.
